Minneapolis is the largest city in the state of Minnesota and is located on both sides of the Mississippi river, adjoining Saint Paul, the capital city of the state. The city was once known for its timber and flour mills, and is today the primary business center of the region. Known for its liberal attitudes, the city has a number of lakes, parks and theaters providing enough avenues for recreation and relaxation.

The total area of Minneapolis is 58.4 square miles or 151.3 square kilometers, of which 6% is water and the rest land. The climate in Minneapolis is bitterly cold and dry in winters, while being warm and even hot and humid in summers. Minneapolis recorded a high of 108oF in the year 1936, it’s highest to date. The lowest temperature recorded in the city was -41oF, which was recorded in1888.

Minneapolis has a history of welcoming new and diverse groups of people. Consequently the population of the city includes Scandinavians, Italians, Germans, Poles, Greeks, Jews, Asians and Africans.

The population of the city as per the last census was 372,811. The city has been recording a fall in population over the past several decades. The population of African-Americans, Asians and Hispanics has been growing, and this group now comprises one-fifth of the city’s population. Minneapolis has fewer older and unemployed people compared to other cities of the United states.

Houses could cost as high as a few million for the discerning, but for the average buyer it is likely to be in the range of a few hundred thousand dollars. Rentals are available for 1500 to 2000 dollars for a 3-4-bedroom accommodation. The rates would be lower for smaller accommodation.
